VFONT VGA Font Loader (none)
Program
vfont -- Chris Dunford's free VGA screen font loader and fonts
Relevant Software
This package, available from the Rams' Island BBS as VFONT@.COM,
contains Chris Dunford's public-domain VGA screen fonts and loader.
If you have a VGA, you may have noticed that the 25-line mode really
doesn't take very good advantage of the available resolution, and the
50-line mode uses text that is a bit too small for use by mere mor-
tals. VFONT provides several screen fonts which span this whole
range, and I think they're much nicer in appearance than the hardware
fonts.
How to Use This Program with InContext
There's a natural tendency to think in terms of loading screen fonts
BEFORE invoking the program(s) that will use them, but it's perfectly
OK to load these screen fonts from INSIDE InContext. A likely ap-
proach is to define a "Do" procedure that loads your preferred font.
Then you can switch to that font any time you like by typing two
characters. The procedure I use is:
fontset;Set display font
c:\tools\vfont c:\fonts\vfont\33 23
This loads the 33-line font. Obviously, you need to change this
procedure to reflect the actual location of vfont on your disk drive.
I also find it convenient to have this done automatically by the
InContext startup macro ("incStart"). My incStart macro includes the
following:
!keyStuff "df"
This invokes the fontset Do procedure, defined above, during in-
itialization of InContext.
